Passion of a Quiet Flower (2003)
3 woodwinds, Trumpet, Trombone, Vibraphone, Marimba (or Guitar or Harp), Piano, Percussion, 2 violins, 2 Cellos, Bass
(substitute parts available for woodwinds)
7 minutes
Sixteen minutes into Alfred Hitchcock’s film Rear Window (1954), we see Jimmy Stewart sleeping in his wheelchair by the open window of his Chelsea apartment. In an incredibly gorgeous and intimate moment, we see the warm and tender close-up of Grace Kelly, moving toward the camera (and toward Jimmy Stewart), waking him up with a kiss. This sensual and languorous appearance of Grace Kelly is one of the great first screen appearances of a character in film.
