This year was a quiet one for performances, since I was working on completing the mixing and mastering of the Vipassana Innova Recordings album, which was to be released in April 2009. But in mid June I was a composer delegate for the National Performing Arts Convention. Held in downtown Denver, it was a fun time meeting other composers and musicians. Also in June, on the 25th, just before school ended, I did introduce the Numinous String Tentet—string sextet, bass, guitar, vibraphone, and percussion—at the old Brooklyn Lyceum in Park Slope (it’s now a gym). I wrote one new piece “A Little Luck” (based on various Madonna songs) as well as arranged some of the earlier Numinous compositions for this instrumentation. But mostly in 2008 I was (literally) building fences and working on my house, and getting ready for a big 2009!
